Its Friday night and you need to relax, so where do you go to?

I work at night; so Friday nights have been a thing of the past for me. However, this Friday after several phone calls I took a day off to actually relax! Having made Breeze Bar a staple in the past I thought of going to some place different. So after much research (Yes, I am picky and built that way!).  Nestled away in what used to be the heavily guarded streets of Fort, you find Re.pub.lk. This intrigued me a bit so that is where we ended up.

My first impression was nothing short of awe for the decor. Rustic but modern, a homely yet you know your out sort of a vibe is what I personally got. We were a party of six and since this was a last minute decision we had to settle for a table inside. I would highly recommend anyone who smokes to get a table outside. The boys settled in for a bottle of whiskey as usual. The two lonely girls went for something that captured our eye on the menu “Fish Bowl”.  Not to annoy the establishment or to be funny we actually wanted to see this bowl before we purchased it. They were really nice enough to show it to us.

The first “Fish Bowl” ended up being a large martini glass filled with the “Ultimate Cosmopolitan” and four black straws. There was no other way to drink from this glass except on straws. Downside to this is when your sitting on a sofa and have to stretch your neck to drink. Any who on the taste side it was fine, the alcohol ratio was high but that is always better than watered down cocktails. The second one we went for actually came in a bowl, it was the same straw concept but easier to drink. The cocktail we ordered was “Blue Sky”, a concoction of Vodka/Rum/Sour Rocks and Blue Curacao. A bit on the bitter end in comparison to the Cosmopolitan but nevertheless drinkable. Besides when its your second round you hardly notice these things.

I was pretty happy with the food the usual culprits of French Fries, Onion Rings and Hot Butter Calamari. The price to quantity ratio was acceptable and so was the taste. It did the job of being an accompaniment ;as always to the alcohol. All in all a good place to hang out have a drink, listen to some music and chill out. They do have some good promos during the week which I plan to check out when I get the chance. So until next time.

Ciao…

I am Chavindie, and I wanted to start blogging for two reasons. First, because I love writing, let it be anything from a sentence to a paragraph, witty comment or poem as long as I can scribble I am happy. The second reason was the lack of information on visas for those of us applying from Sri Lanka.
