Greetings and Merry Christmas!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I know I am quiet late to do this but nevertheless I thought of sharing my first time experience at “Butter Boutique“, which is my experience becomes the best cafe in Colombo containing the most delicious cakes.

Since I am on a sort of a sugar free diet, I have avoided all possible places that sell any kind of dessert. Anyway before I go off point, a friend of mine and I decided to try out Butter Boutique for the first time last Friday after salivating for months looking at their Instagram feed. I am going to rate then on three factors, Location, Taste+Quantity+Variety and ambiance.

Location – 70 Rosmead Pl, Colombo 7. It was not hard to find we simply followed the directions on Google maps and its right opposite Paradise Road “Tintagel”

Our Choice of Cakes

Taste + Quantity + Variety – being a first timer here I can see why you find such great reviews about them. The variety is lovely from generalised  Chocolate Fudge and Red Velvet to more unique Hazelnut Praline. Everything looked so good. Since it was our first time we tried the safe options.

Chocolate Fudge – at Rs.550, this is a steal, I could not finish the slice, the portion was massive. The icing to cake ratio was a little imbalanced in a good way 🙂 I always love more icing. It was pure chocolate goodness, firm yet soft chocolate sponge cut through the fork like butter. If I had a capacity I would have eaten the the entire cake.

Nutella – Rs.580, and sheer goodness of Nutella and cake what more could you ask for? a four layered cake with Nutella in between, whether its frosting or pure Nutella, didn’t make a difference for us. Way more softer than fudge and easier to polish off! Must try coming here.

Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Frosting – Rs.580, this was tried out by my cousin and his raved about it like there was no other cake. A good balance of cream cheese frosting to cake, I think it a great combo considering both the flavor profiles. Red Velvet at Butter Boutique Colombo!

My friend did purchase an ice Milo and a brownie to go, and her exact words were this brownie is “heavenly”, seems to me Butter Boutique is indeed in touch with the taste gods of the world.

Ambiance – the place is a little cramped but the interior decor is tasteful. Flicks of purple on yellow background and since it was Christmas time a gorgeous tree stood right at the entrance. Expansion might be in the cards but no idea on the location.

Locations – 5/5

Taste + Quantity + Variety – 5/5

Ambiance – 3/5

All in all I would recommend “Butter Boutique” to anyone in need of a good hearty dose of cake and a place to indulge in your sweet tooth fantasies. I have plans to try every cake available and will keep you posted. Check out my Instagram/FB or Twitter feed for more details.

Until next time, Adios!

I am Chavindie, and I wanted to start blogging for two reasons. First, because I love writing, let it be anything from a sentence to a paragraph, witty comment or poem as long as I can scribble I am happy. The second reason was the lack of information on visas for those of us applying from Sri Lanka.
