“Fontana di Trevi” or “Trevi Fountain” as it is known to us most famously is a beautiful fountain in the heart of Rome. One of the oldest if not the oldest fountain in Rome is visited by millions of visitors each year. It is located in the Trevi district of\u00a0 Rome. We got to the location at around 4 in the evening, it was quite cold as we travelled in December. You walk down a small cobbled street and you come to a large opening which reveals itself to be the Trevi Fountain. There is a never-ending flow of people into this area, to take a picture is a struggle in itself and there is no way that you can avoid the other visitors appearing in your pictures.<\/p>\n

The whole fountain is made out of a marble-like stone, and I must say Fendi is to be commended on the refurbishment done as the fountain looks gorgeous and clean. The surrounding area is filled with a wide variety of eateries and retail shops. When you get close to the fountain you are able to see the millions of coins inside, as per statistics over 3000 Euros worth of coins are thrown in each day. These are collected and given to a local charity which handles supermarket chain providing a rechargeable\u00a0card to the homeless to buy food.<\/p>\n

Through the multitude of tourists, we managed to make our way closer to the fountain to throw in a coin (I was already there with the love of my life, so throwing 3 coins would be unnecessary). The proper way as per historical stories is to throw one coin over your left shoulder with your right hand while facing your back to the fountain. This is supposed to bring you back to Rome. If you throw two then you would come back to Rome + meet the love of your life and with three coins, you will end up marrying the love of your life. We, however, managed to completely mess up the coin toss, but fingers crossed that we return to Rome!!!<\/p>\n
